Safety Over Christmas Break

Keeping Students and Staff Safe over Christmas Break

In order to ensure the safest return to school after Christmas break, we are asking for your help.

Over this break, if your child should develop symptoms that are not usual for them, should come into close contact with someone who is confirmed to have COVID-19, or should test positive for COVID-19 over this break, please be sure to click here to let the school district know. Our staff will follow up with you no later than Tuesday, January 5th, which is the day prior to return to school.  Thank you for your part in helping to keep our students and staff safe so we can continue to keep our campuses open for learning.

For reference, you can review the “Leading Forward” document for additional information about our response to COVID-19.

FREE COVID-19 TESTING: If you or your family members should ever need to be tested, you can go to https://curative.com/  to type in your address and see what locations are close to you. Through this website, you can sign up for a free COVID-19 test, and the results typically come back between 24-48 hours.

Method of Instruction (MOI) Change Reminders

We received feedback that parents would like to be able to make changes to their children’s method of instruction sooner than the end of a 9-week period. Parents may now make requests for changes in their children’s method of instruction in Skyward, with the option to return to campus sooner than the 9-week period of time.

If you do not wish to make any changes to your child’s method of instruction (on-campus vs distance learning), you do not need to take any action.

If you do wish to make changes, you may do so in Skyward. You can click here to view the video showing you how to make that change in the system.

Campus principals will review incoming Skyward requests regularly and contact you regarding your request.

Due to the more complex scheduling for secondary students, principals will review requests for students to return on-campus in three-week intervals. Here are the dates to follow for the secondary 3-week interval deadlines:

If you have concerns about your child attending school in person after the Christmas break, you may opt to have your child learn from home until you are comfortable for them to return to campus. Please notify your child’s principal that you will temporarily be keeping your child at home. Your child may return to campus at any point you feel comfortable before January 19. After that date, the cycles referenced above for changes would apply.

If you do not remember your Skyward login, please email registration@lockhart.txed.net. If you have questions about methods of instruction, please contact your campus principal.
